birth control pill question

I have recently been diagnosed with pcos after having a laparoscopy. My doctor has suggested birth control pills. I have a dislike of taking medicine because I tend to worry about side effects. Could anybody let me know if the birth control pills helped with the symtoms of pcos and if their pms symptoms got worse with the pill. I have generalized anxiety disorder(a nice way of saying I get anxious easily) and it gets worse around period time. I do not want to make that problem worse by taking the pill. I'm new to using a computer, so please bear with me as I try to learn how to talk to you guys. Thanks in advance for any advice you have.
