HI there all, I am a classic PCOS case. Symptoms unmasked at puberty with crazy periods and explosive development (sixe C chest at 13 & 1/2 years old, acne. Thank god for my OBGYN who put me on BC then, not even knowing it was PCOS, bc that did mask the symptoms for many years. Abot 4 years ago I went from 140 lbs ( my normal) to almost 200lbs in only several months. For the past 4 years I have battled this weight thing. (Interestingly enough I met my husband pre-PCOS diagnosis and at @160+ lbs... he is wonderful and has never made me feel fat or unsexy). Well I knew something was really wrong and I finally broke down and told my obgyn about the hirsutism once I had a 3 & 1/2 week wacko period experience. He sent me to a great RE. Since September I have been on MET, since my diagnosis in August (in August had all symptoms including MANY cysts crowding my ovaries and IR of 20.5 :() I have lost 20 lbs. And I had AF on 9/17 and 10/15 - holy ovulation batman! And I am now awaiting a hopefully ++++ preg test this Friday (too early to tell yet). Anyway, my bottom line reason for posting all of this is not to gloat or be 'sally sunshine' in the face of other's need to vent frustration. The first week I was told about this by my obgyn I was SO depressed, started eating badly, basically like F*** it, you know? Especially when I found out my grandma Dorothy probably had it, she had diabetes, hirsutism, and died of Breast Cancer in her early 50's...But I decided last month that I don't want to be like my Grandma Dorothy, refuse to be a statistic, and I went to my RE and told him to treat me like I can be his BEST CASE SCENARIO. For the past month I have been religious about my meds and eating changes, and am seeing a nutritionist,and I actually had 2 normal cycles. SO I hope this helps inspire some other cysters out there to try to take what CONTROL WE CAN this problem and beat some of the odds here.
