Re: Has anyone had normal fasting insulin...From: Smed (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 3 Nov 2000 22:18:09 -0600 (CST)
The only thing I can add is that when I first got my fasting insulin the doctor called me and left a message saying all my reports were within normal ranges. Well I am kind of a pain now so I called and asked for a copy of those reports. Yes the fasting insulin was normal according to that lab report. Of course most people do not know that each lab has a different "normal" level they go by, nice huh. Anyway, my fasting level was over 20, and that was after I had been low carbing, dumb me did not realize what an effect it would have. After researching my test results I found that the level above 10 is not normal, that most people are between 5-10, and when I called the doc back about it he agreed and stated that he would be a little more careful reading the labs responses and start actually reading the actual results. Scarey huh.
