How do you get diagnosed with PCOS?

Ugh. I really don't want to have PCOS but that looks like what my symptoms are showing.

3 years ago, I started having really painful ovarian cysts. One became as big as a grapefruit had had to be removed with a lap. At the time of diagnosis, an ultrasound was done and a nurse said to me, "You know, you have PCOS." I had no idea what that was and asked her, and she showed me where my left ovary had multiple undeveloped sacs. I asked my doctor, who said the nurse didn't know what she was talking about.

December 1999, I'm having loads of pelvic pain. I have a lap in Jan 2000, and am diagnosed with endometriosis, mainly on my right ovary. 9 days after surgery, my pain is back and I go on low dose Danazol, which suppresses pain for a few months, but the bloating and migraines cause me to discontinue. In June 2000, the pain becomes unbearable again and I have a laparatomy in which my right ovary is removed.

Been doing great since then, until a month or so ago. i started having severe blood sugar crashes, even waking up feeling like I'm going to pass out. It feels like I have to eat all the time. I've had a rapid weight gain, more than I think I should have, even with the increased eating. When I do eat, it's healthy. I also eat lots of healthy food and it doesn't seem to matter, in a few hours I'll feel the crash again. I had an increase in hair growth with the Danazol, which has not gone away. It's mostly fine, blonde hairs on my face and back.

I'm seeing my OB/GYN on the 7th and will talk to her about this. What questions should I ask? How exactly do you get diagnosed? How can I get rid of some of this weight and keep my blood sugar at a normal level? The weight issue is not all vanity, I'm spending a fortune on new clothes. I get some that fit, then 2 weeks later I have to get new ones.

Please help me! I'm new to all of this.
