Tonya, It is not at all suprising that your Dr. hasn't given you the IGTT(Insulin Glucose Tolerance Test). The connection between PCOS and Insulin resistance, and the treatment of PCOS with Insulin sensitizing medication(like Met) is a very recent development in care. I think many, if not most, Drs are not well informed about this. It is important to become an educated patient, therefore. The IGTT is a test to determine insulin Resistance-not PCOS-if you have PCOS you are likely to have IR, but it is possible to have either one without the other. Because women with PCOS have a varity of syptoms, there is no one test to determine if you have it, rather it is based on a collection of information including certain tests, the regularity of your cycle, cysts on your ovaries, hair growth etc...So the determination of PCOS is the first step-then you can move onto the insulin issues. You may also benefit from reading this link which covers many of your questions. http://www.inciid.org/faq/pcos.html Good Luck
