Re: provera induce miscarriage?From: Ginger (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 16 Oct 2000 21:13:25 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Lexi! When I was having to use provera, I always had to take a urine pregnancy test at the office before they would give me the prescription. BUT I was pregnant with my oldest and had 4 negative urine tests until finally, after the provera didn't work was given a blood test and it was +. I was SUPER nervous after that because I wasn't sure how that provera was going to effect the baby. I did quite a bit of research and although did not worry about miscarriage, there were quite a few possible birth defects to worry about (especially in male fetus, it can effect where the urethra is positioned - like it can end up on the top, side, bottom, etc. instead of the end). Luckily we had no problems, but I would tell your friend to INSIST upon a blood pg test before she does the provera. Take Care! Ginger
