Re: ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE STOMACH PAINSFrom: Michele (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 3 Oct 2000 10:58:44 -0500 (CDT)
It sounds like you are having a hypoglycemia attack. You are probably not eating enough food. You should try to eat every 3-4 hours. Balance protein w/carbs. If you are eating less then 100 grams of carbs a day, you will have more problems. 100 grams is still low carb. You need to spread those carbs out over the whole day, not eat them in just one meal. It is better also to eat carbs that don't turn to sugar as fast. Cut back on white flour, rice, potatoes, processed foods, sodas, and desserts. Really avoid anything with high fructose corn syrup in it. Also lower your dose for a couple of days and then work you way back up. Some people use immodium to help with the stomach problems. If you continue to have problems contact your doctor, some people develop lactic acidosis w/glucophage, rare but it can happen and it is dangerous. Remember this is a low carb diet, NOT A NO CARB DIET! You need the fruits, vegteables and whole grains as well as the protein. Treatment for pco involves 3 things to work effectively, they are the medications, low carb diet and exercise. The meds help control the insulin, the diet helps us to not produce as much glucose, keeping our insulin levels lower, and the exercise helps the insulin enter the cells easier. All three are necessary to control this condition. People who have high male hormones will need to use an additional medication to control that. Hope this helps.
