ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE STOMACH PAINSFrom: Randi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 3 Oct 2000 10:28:24 -0500 (CDT)
I am currently on Glucophage (850mg 2x a day)...been on it at that dosage for 2 weeks (tomorrow). I experienced the most horrifc stomach pains on Sunday and Monday with my fist pill, that I almost went to the emergency room. I haven't been keeping to the low carb diet yet, but always eat with the meds. the first time it happened, I ate pretzels before it (I know, bad) and yesterday, I had a hamburger (without the bread - yeah). I assumed that the the first time it was because I hadn't really eaten and on top of that it was PRETZELS (major carb). But I really felt that the hamburger was enough to balance against the pill yesterday. I had a much heavier meal at dinner with my second pill both times and wonder if it's the food, or what? My friend thought that it might take 2 weeks for the mg's to take effect...this doesn't sound right to me. Another friend said that my stomach didn't have enough food to help the pill breakdown. Over tyhe last 2 months, I ate more. All I can say is, that it's not possible for me to go through the excruciating pain that I had the last 2 days...the first time it occurred with the cold sweats and feeling of throwing up...both days it happened 20 minutes after taking the pill. Your thoughts???
