Glucose/Insulin test

Hi all,

I usually lurk and read the messages, but don't often post. Today I have a question. My gyno ordered a 3 hour fasting glucose/insulin test which I did this morning. For those of you that don't know, you have to drink a sickly sweet orange drink (a bottle and a half for me). An hour into the test, when they took blood, I was really ill. My blood pressure dropped, I started having tunnel vision, was cold and clammy, racing pulse and it sounded as if everyone was talking to me from a long distance. They had to lay me down in a room and check on me every 15 minutes. By the second blood draw, I was only marginally better, but by the 3 draw, at the end of the 3 hours, I was feeling better, although still shaky. In fact right now I am still feeling rotten like a I have a hangover, including a headache. Is this a common reaction? Also, after reading through the posts, I see that many people have normal readings after these tests, even though they have strong IR symptoms. Is the 3 hour test generally accurate? I have known for sometime that I am sensitive to sugar, but didn't realize just how sensitive. Have been doing the Zone eating plan and have felt increasingly better over the last couple of months, but it is a delicate balance and if I stray even a little too far with the carbs I immediately regret it. Am interested in hearing from other people who have had this test.
