Newbie from Oregon : )From: Pati (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 28 Sep 2000 23:44:15 -0500 (CDT)
Hey all... I have an appt. scheduled for next month for a gyn specialist. (I will try to make a long story short) When I was 15 I was taken to the ER with what initially was thought to be appendicitis (sorry, bad spelling) Well it was not that and of course the doctors weren't interested further to search for answers once the pain killers made me loopy. They mentioned something about a possible cyst on my ovary and discharged me....end of that story...beginning of a whole other! So now I am 23. I am pretty overweight, 5'8" and 245 +/- lbs. I have never been regular. I can easily go four months with no sign of menstrual activity. I am extremely fatigued at times and suffer from hot flashes. I have had problems with symptoms of diabetes but the doc. says I'm not diabetic. I have read through quite a few messages and I find many similarities to some of you. I was married in 1995 and it took over a year to get preg. I have now been trying for 2 1/2 years (ugh and boo hoo) and I have had NO luck. I am really at a loss. My main concern right now is the fertility aspect but of course I am concered for my health as well. I am terrified of seeing this specialist...whether (s)he will blow it off....not know what the heck I am talking about....I don't know. I have put this off long enough so I WANT to tell them but you know how doctors give you that "oh sure" look when you tried to "self diagnose" yourself. OH DEAR. Where do I go from here? I'm not sure if it is related but I also was getting depo-prevera injections when I was 16. I always wondered if there was some sort of link to that. Anyway, I greatly appriciate any comments anyone has....Thanks
