Christine, first things first... your doctor is COMPLETELY uninformed about PCOS. While it may not be "curable" it definately is treatable!!! I have been on Glucophage for almost 5 months now, I've lost 22 lbs (low carbing) , I feel a world better than I have the last several years and my insulin levels are much closer to normal than they were before ( I was borderline diabetic when I started). Personally I would not see that particular doctor again, I would "shop" around for a doc who knows what PCOS is and knows how to treat it. You deserve better! RE's tend to know more about it than OBGYN's (but some obgyn's are up on it). I am being treated by an RE even though I am not trying to get pregnant right now. Do yourself a favor and read the archives here, and pull up info on the net..... there is a ton of info out there, arm yourself so you know what you need. Good luck!!! Susan J.
