Normal insulin/glucose fasting results

I am just curious as to how many of you had "normal" fasting insulin/glucose blood tests, but later found out that you are insulin resitant. I have many symptoms like a shaky, extreme irritable, nervousness feeling after not eating for a few hours that is relieved with a sugary food, but my doctor is implying that it is stress and/or I am imagining it because I know that it can be related to PCOS. She has not ordered any more tests and told me to stay on the pill and go see a doctor when I want to get pregnant. I want to see another endorinoligist but I need a referrel from my doctor (I'm from Canada), but my GP will not give me one - she says that these things cost a lot of money. Any advice?

Thanks very much in advance.
