Is there more than one way to diagnos PCOS?

I suspect I have this disease; however when I went to my primary care doctor and told her of my symptoms, she had me take several blood tests including LH to FSH ratio and all came back normal. So the doctor said I don't have PCOS. I have most but not all the symptoms including: rapid weight gain, excessive hair growth (below navel, toes, upper lip), excessive hairloss, infertility and anovulation.

I was recently diagnosed as being infertile by another doctor earlier this year and am trying to follow up with the original diagnosis. The fertility specialist said my LH levels were very low, but when she did the chlomid test, she said "they went through the roof" I'm not sure what it all means. I am concerned with the cause of infertility as well as the effect. So I researched the various causes of infertility when I came accross the PCOS website. A lot of the symptoms sound like me accept for the missed periods. My cycles are pretty regular now, but when I was younger I had excessive heavy bleeding during my periods so the doctor put me on the pill to control them.

Also, at age 12 while in surgery for an unrelated issue, the doctor cleared my right ovary in which he said "was covered with several small cysts". The cysts are back. I was told that I had a small cluster of cysts on my right ovary a few years ago when I had an ultrasound preformed for an unrelated issue. Even though I was told that cysts are normal and there is no cause for concern. What does this all mean??

I'm getting nowhere with my doctors. I hate HMO's. They make me fell as if I am imagining my syptoms. Is there anyone else out there with similar problems? Is it possible I don't have PCOS? I don't know what else to do. HELP!
