Re: THE VICTIM

Yet another poster hiding behind the shield of anonymous. I am an "anon" who has not yet posted on the victim. It's hard to feel responsible when all of a sudden your body gets all messed up and you're normal weight, haven't changed your dietary habits, and you find yourself at the age of 12, gaining weight like crazy. And even though you're eating you are also hungry all the time and low energy because your insulin levels are wacky, so most of what you eat is stored as fat, and then there is a 5 o'clock shadow showing up on your previously alabaster complexion, along with major acne. And the doctors are all saying there is nothing wrong. Pcos sufferers ARE victims and, unfortunately, most have to endure years of bad dx's and a medical profession who, until recently, felt that there was no PCOS. Not everyone is able to afford first rate medical care or has access to great doctors and there are many symptoms and degrees of PCOS. What works for you may not work for me. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and if we are proactive with our health and our healthcare, in so far as we are able, we can gain control over the pcos interloper in our lives. It's not easy and seems to take a looonnnggg time to get everything all lined up but it can be done. The wonderful women here are an unbelievable resource and ,for many, a lifesaver. Many of us would still be at ground zero without the support, openness, and knowledge of the posters here. So, yes, we are victims, but we are also overcomers.
