Re: abnormal bleedingFrom: Joe-n-Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 23 Sep 2000 15:39:55 -0700
chris I don't think I can tell you weather or not you have been mis diagnosed, but I can tell you this. I had very normal periods up until the time I was 16, then they became different, some months I would bleed for days, and sometimes I would bleed twice in a month, and sometimes I wouldn't bleed at all. I did this for about two years before my period completely stopped. I have not had a period in five years The thing to remember is that PCOS has many different effects. The fact that it messes with your hormones causes the body to go haywire, that is why some people have different symptoms then others. Your doctor should be able to test your hormone levels to determine weather or not you are a likely candidate for PCOS. Did your doctor ever perform an ultrasound to see if you have cysts or unusually large ovaries??
I wish you luck with your research
