Low carb way of eating...(very long...)From: AJ (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 21 Sep 2000 08:45:53 -0500 (CDT)
I may be out of line, I may start World War 3, but I need to say what I need to say. I have PCOS. In order to keep my PCOS in check, to live a healthier life, I need to follow a Low Carb way of eating. It is hard...I enjoy Chinese food...I enjoy Italian food...I enjoy cheesecake, and pastry...and potatoes...but what I don't enjoy, is being fat. And if that means that I can't eat Chinese, or Italian, or bread, or potatoes...so be it. Then that is what I need to do. I can not allow my desire for certain foods determine my path in life. I could hide behind the words "I have no control over this"...but I know it isn't true. I DO have control over what I put in my mouth...it may not be easy...it may not be pleasant...I may not be able to indulge like the next person may...but, I do have control over it if I WANT to have control over it. Ponder this for a moment...if you were on your death bed, and someone said "Hey - you can either have this (insert your favorite high-carb food here), or you can live another 24 hours..." would the choice be hard? Not for me it wouldn't. I imagine that same person telling me...on a daily basis..."You can either eat this donut or you can lose one pound...or maybe one less hair will show up on your chin...or on your upper lip...or you can go an extra week without waxing"...and you know what?...I decide I can live...and will live healthier, and happier... without that donut. So I may LOVE Italian, and chinese, and bakery, and hasbrowns, but ultimately, I love myself alot more. Once I came to that conclusion, The Low Carb way of eating was no longer a option...I can't imagine any other way. I wish everything in my life could be handled by eating cheese... :-)
