sbond--- Please know that we are making educated decisions about adoption....we simply didn't decide yesterday. We began researching it about a year ago, but put it aside until about 6 months ago and began looking at different agencies in our area.

Thank you for your advice, and we have done some research about adoption.... we have always maintained that we would want an open adoption... a brief summary is below on some of the reason's why we chose this.

reason one: because the birthmother would make it possible for us to be parents-- she chose life-- and she didn't have to. reason two: If a birthfamily is given letters/photos/visits they are less likely to change their minds about the adoption... because it will not be a mystery-- they know where the child is and he/she is well taken care of-- it is not final; they choose whether or not to see the child. reason three: I know who my biological family is, I know that the color of my eyes are the same as my maternal grandmother's, and all the things that made me physically who I am, or what diseases run in my family and we feel that is very important.

for the record I don't know the birthparents in the situation I discussed... and I know that yes, they could change their minds, but so can I. I could become pregnant, I could not. I could miscarry, but maybe I would not. I am prepared to handle whatever comes my way. By choosing to be negative I would be choosing to sit the bench--- I can sit and cry about it or I can play the game. I choose to play the game.
