TO LYNN FROM ANONYMOUS--ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONSFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 31 Aug 2000 15:28:19 -0500 (CDT)
Lynn first of all, I happen to be a very lucky girl because I live on long Island New York.. This gives me acess to some of the best medical facilities in the country. I also have a very good insurance plan that enables me to see the doctors of my choice and any thing that is not covered or is only partially covered , I have the financial means to pay for out of pocket. Like I said I am a lucky girl who basically has the best of the best as far as treatment goes. I'm sorry that I don't know anything about the area where you live, but I'm sure there must be a large University Hospital (teaching hospitals are the best because they would be up to date or doing research studies and probably have a greater degree of exposure to pcos and the latest treatments)somewhere within travling distance to you. Even if it was a few hours away, you could still make the trip because visits would not be an everyday thing. See if you can get your doctor to refer you to an endocrinoligist associated with one of these hospitals. As far as vitimins and herbs, Do your research and clear the types and the dosages with your doctor first before taking. you don't want to take anything that might have negitive reactions . These are not to be played around with unless you are sure of what is right for YOU. Some that you might want to research are: vitex, schizandra, milk thistle, Vit C, Vit E, inositol, Calcium, Magneesium, flax seed oil, saw palmetto, GTF chromium, B6, multi vitimins, I also take some support combinations from ENZYMATIC THERAPY (thats the company name) for liver adreanal and one is called Dia-comp. Country Life is another company that has high Quality products.. I take dosages specifically for MY needs so I am not going to give you the dosages because I don't think that would be responscipal of me. You have to find out what is right for you.. I will tell you that I Have put alot of time in researching and have sought a great amount of counciling from people who are educated in the area of vitimins and herbs. Just because they are considered natural remidies, they should be taken with the same respect and thought that you would any perscription drug. The one thing that I can tell you is that you will receive better benifits if you take the in their own pure form rather then in one multi pourpos pill and spread the dosages througout the day rather then one pill in the morning. Besides there really isn't one combination pill with every thing in it any way. So yeah I pop alot of pills over the course of the day but I feel great and look great. Panothanic acid is another one you might want to look upAnd DESINGER(brand name)protein powders. They have a variety of powders to address different needs and come in pretty good flavors. I like the DESINGER WHEY protein powder in vanilla or strawberry. These are not ment to be a substitute for a meal but used as a supplement to a meal or as a "snack" . You can throw some in with long cooking oatmeal to give it some flavor This is really pretty good. I try to use the ZONE diet as a guide line. I am very very strict on myself with the diet. Every thing is sugarfree and not even artifical sweetners. I really Limit myself on what goes into my mouth and the time of day . I'am so regimented and never cheat because it has such a negitive effect that it wasn't worth it. Alot of woman are finding this hard to do but I found out that being sick was worse than not having bread or pasta anymore. I'd rather banish EVERY BAD SUGAR AND CARB for the rest of my life than miss a family function or an activity with the kids. I 'm going to fight pcos with every thing I can and have made it a way of life so I can live as normally as I can. If this means the only liquid I ever drink for the rest of my life is water well that's ok. Is it boreing? is it time consuming? Is it a real pain in the neck having to live like this? sure it is but after Two years of concentrated effort I am back to managing this pretty sucessfully.. You must read read read and attack this from many different angles. If you slip up in the balancing act like I did four years Everything comes out to haunt you. The best authority on pcos has to be you. Don't accept anything you feel isn't in your best interest and don't let anyone put limitations on providing you with the proper healthcare. Hope this helps and if you ever need any other help post a message to anonymous from lynn and put propecia in the title so I can Find you Good luck!
