Re: My Dr visit was todayFrom: Mary (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 31 Aug 2000 13:34:53 -0500 (CDT)
Just thought I'd mention a few things. You may not ovulate on day 14 - doctor's assume we ovulate on that day, and while some women do, most do not. Some ovulate earlier, most ovulate later. You need to have intercourse 3-4 days before you ovulate, so each woman needs to have an idea of wen she actually ovulates. It normally takes about a week for sufficient hormones to build up to reveal whether you did ovulate or not - when they say day 14 is ovulation day, then day 21 is normally the day drs. want to check your hormones. I have been off Clomid for a few months, but my last month on it, I never went in to the drs. office to have that day 21 test - I chart my basal body temperature, and because there was no jump in temp., I knew that I hadn't ovulated. I really wish doctors would stop averaging all these events. They are often encouraging couples to have intercourse when it's not likely to result in conception. There are some really good books on fertility out there that would help women understand how their bodies work.
