hi Amy-
I'm certainly no doctor, but I would say from your symptoms that at the
very least, PCOS is a syndrome that should be considered and checked out
by your doctor. Being a syndrome, you don't have to have all of the
symptoms to have the disease. Your symptoms like weight gain in the
tummy, hypoglycemic attacks (the shakiness off carbs,) the facial hair,
and the irregular periods all would point that direction. Oh, and yes
your periods ARE irregular - anything besides a 'regular' roughly
monthly cycle is considered irregular. So, ask your new doc about it!
And if they put you off with vagueness or put you on the pill to 'fix'
your body, press for more. If you can get things like an LH / FSH,
Ultrasound, or IGTT done, at least you will be able to rule PCOS out.
Right? Good luck to you!!
