Re: 2 questionsFrom: Beth (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 22 Aug 2000 20:13:56 -0500 (CDT)
There are several things you can do to help give the appearance of smaller pores. I have trouble using new products on my skin since the start of my acne 2 1/2 years ago. I discovered microdermabrasion and glycolic peels when my husband sent me to the spa for Valentine's Day. I found that if I go once a month around my time of the month it helps immensely. Microdermabrasion is kind of like having your face sand blasted (no pain though : ) ), the sand coming through gets rid of the top layer of skin... therefore helping to eliminate small scars, birthmarks, discolorations etc... the "vacuuming" up of the sand (sorry can't describe this better) work miracles on your pores. It cleans them out big time, mine have probably been reduced by at least 85 %. The best feature for me is that it "sucks out" (sorry to be so graphic) those big hard nasty zits (or any zit :)). The glycolic peel after the dermabrasion dries up the zit then. It is so much better than suffering for weeks with the same painful zit. After the treatment your face feels like it has a minor sunburn for a day or two and has a slight pink tone for a few days. In 4-5 days max my face would be great for the next month! I quit doing them over a month ago so the dr. would get a good idea of what my face really looks like (scary though!) and I have had 3-4 big hard red painful boil type zits that won't go away. If the met helps I'm springing for the laser resurfacing to be done for good with scars etc... if not I'm back to doing these to help erase the scars and keep my pores in check, not to mention keeping the acne in check!
