Well, I don't know what dosage of met you were on, but I can tell you
that my RE (recommended on this site and listed in the directory)
prescribed 2,000mg for me straight off the bat. As I've already said, I
was in the neighborhood of 225lb when I met with the doctor. My fasting
glucose was 113 and 2 hr specimen was 107. My insulin was 18. Not
normal, for sure, but not as high as some who are on 1,500mg. I was
curious as to why the doc prescribed 2g daily when it seems most are on
1.5g so I did a little research. What I read in a few places is that 2g
is, in certain circles, considered the optimal dose for those TTC. Maybe
that's so, maybe not. But go with your instinct. I think I fancy
myself as some sort of psycoanalyst, but maybe the doc told you no more
met because she/he wanted to give you a jolt? An awaking of sorts to
your motivation? I could be so far off the mark that it ain't funny...
but sounds to me like that's exactly what it did for you. Maybe you
should call the doc on Monday after you've had a few days to put your
ducks in a row and tell her/him of your renewed committment to yourself?
It's just my very humble opinion.
