Re: How long after stopping the pill did symptons begin for any of you?

My symtoms were there before I got on the pill and went untreated for a very long time. No periods for over a year at one point and I had a pap done that showed abnormal cells. I got back on the pill and that was all gone. I did go off 3 years ago and I think I noticed a major difference in increase hair growth and some weight gain by the end of the first year. The hair loss has increased to the point I've noticed in just the last year as the weight gain has continued. During all of this I've been on things like clomid and meds and injectables for my 1 try with invitro. Now I've heard that clomid can aggravate pcos. So my things in this past 3 years could have been pushed along a little more rapidly due to that. By the way, I am thinking of trying Clomid again except with the use of Metformin also. So I am by no means knocking Clomid. Have you had IGTT done? If not, that would be a good start. Along with the other tests. Find a doc that is knowledgable. I'm going to try Metformin. Sounds like several PCOSers are having luck with their periods coming back anyway. You do not HAVE to stay on bcp. There are alternatives. You do need to have periods though, very important. Two months off is really not that long. Your doc could even give you provera for the purpose of having a period. You may just need to give yourself more time. BCP is really just an inhibitor. Diet, exercise, and possibly meds like metformin seem to be more productive in results. I have not tried Met yet and maybe am speaking too soon. But I've read alot about it and seems to be more promising. Good Luck. love, Tina
