Michelle, I recently went through the same problem and it wasn't a burst cyst, it was a hemmoragic cyst. So, the pain can be cause by the cyst and bursting ones. I have had several bursting cyst, and they are painful, but not dangerous unless they are cancerous or overly bloody. Hope that helps, ----Jennifer
