Pregnant with PCOSFrom: Anja (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 2 Aug 2000 13:03:29 -0500 (CDT)
About eight months ago I got diagnosed with PCOS. It was a great relief. Now understanding what my problem was, I designed my own glycemic index based diet and went from 250 to 200lb's in the last 5 months. My doctor told me it would be very hard to ever get pregnant, but he wanted me to continue taking birth controll pills to help stabelizing my hormones. 2 weaks ago I got suspicious, due to exsessive bathroom runs and kicking, and then found out that I am 5 1/2 months pregnant! Sofar, the pregnancy has obviously been a breeze, but I have several questions... 1. Could taking the pill have hurt the baby? 2. Could the weightloss have hurt the baby? 3. Should I stop loosing weight? 4. Is there anything different about a PCOS pregnancy I should know about (A friend told me women with PCOS often dont have a wide enough pelvis, made worse by bigger babys)? 5. Is the PCOS likely to change (get worse or better) after the pregnancy? 6. If I have a daughter, how is her chances of inheriting this?
