Re: 17 yrs old with pcsFrom: paula (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 29 Jul 2000 10:30:37 -0500 (CDT)
well, i will say this...it is possible that either the correct horomones were not tested, or that the doctor is not entirely familiar with pcos..because i had my horomones tested as a teen, and they said they were normal when they were not...can you get the actual numbers and compare them yourself? also, your niece should have her insulin levels checked. has she gained weight recently? are her periods normal? keep in mind that this is a syndrome and not all symptoms need be persant in order to have pcos...but these are some things you can look for. and yes it IS possible that you can have it without abnormal hormone levels..it could be that she is in stage 1 where not everything is out of whack yet. i would persue this course of inquiry until i had found out. hope this helps love, paula
