Re: A New PersonFrom: Susan (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 26 Jul 2000 22:21:37 -0500 (CDT)
This is true what Paula says about cysts...I have normal sized ovaries with no cysts present. I've undergone 4 of these ultrasounds and they've been normal each time. I do, however, have all of the other symptoms of PCO. I would obtain a referral from my Primary Care doctor to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist (if you are ttc), or an Endocrinologist (if you are not ttc). Let the doctors know what your symptoms are, from my experience it seems best not to talk too much about the hair problem, try focusing on all the symptoms that aren't so visible. The hair problem is what prompted me to see a doctor in the 1st place, but if you let them believe that that is your only concern they will most likely prescribe a bcp for you and send you on your way. They need to run several different blood tests to look at your hormone, insulin and glucose levels before a decision is made as to what type of treatment protocol would be best for you.
