Re: Have any of you had this problem?

Hi Jessica -- Well, you've sure been through more than your share at such a young age, haven't you? My heart goes out to you. I had cysts all over both my ovaries that were found at age 21 (in 1975), and were very painful. But, to the best of my knowledge, they never got necrotic. Did your doctor explain to you why yours did? She/he is probably learning along with you about this. Why don't you download a few of the posts about insulin resistance and various medications and laboratory tests to discuss on your next visit; that way you can get tested for insulin resistance before being prescribed something like Glucophage. You can also tell him or her that there are scientific articles about this that can be found in Index Medicus and PubMed; or even download them and print them up, and take in copies. Just so that his or her defensive hackles don't rise, say that you are really grateful to have his/her help on-side and to have someone to help you work through this and explain things to you, since it seems to be such a hard and complex problem to diagnose and treat.

Good luck. I'll be really interested to hear what happens next for you. Alina
