Re: 2 thingsFrom: paula (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 25 Jul 2000 15:50:42 -0500 (CDT)
well i watch as little tv as possible but someone here posted that it would be on so i made it a point to watch. it seemed to me that they were representing it as 1) primarily a disease of the ovaries, insulin was only mentioned once. and 2) were focusing on the cosmetic effects instead of the healthe and emotional effects. they were alos saying go to your doctor and be checked for this. they did not say you need to ask and demand this if you think you have the symptoms...i wrote leeza a letter which i have tried to send 2 time and both times her box was full. it is not nasty, i just thank her for bringing the issue up and state that i didn't agree with the representation she provided. i suggested she gather another bunch of panalists and do an entire hour on it. there were 2 women with pcos on there, both were successful with pregnancies and not symptomaic in the extreme, and one mother who talked about her daughter, but the mom blamed the daughters depression on the bcp instead naming it as a symptom of pcos. i was disappointed in the show. i hope my letter can get through. love, paula p.s. as soon as i finish checking messages, i will be mailing out the paper
