Re: A new dietFrom: Monica (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 20 Jul 2000 22:22:27 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Lori, I replied to your Optifast question in a previous post but I didn't see it show up on the board so here goes again! I was on that Optifast in 1989. I lost 35 pounds and gained it all back in a year or two. And then some. In hind sight I'd say it's a waste of your time and money. Yeah, you get quick results put they don't last for anyone! I've personally known many people (my mom, a male friend of the family, a neighbor) who did Optifast. They lost but gained it all back and then some! And it happened to Oprah, too. I'd really rethink this one. Many women here have had great, long lasting weight loss with moderately low carbo programs (like ZONE or Sugarbusters) and taking MET. Yeah, on Optifast they say they reintroduce you slowly to food but who's kidding who? After 12 weeks of drinking only liquids, it's the habits that are still there after 12 weeks. You're better off getting a good low carbo book, like The Carbo Addicts Plan for Life, or Sugarbusters. They are motivating, easy reads, and it could put you on the right track for life long results! Good luck! :) MOnica
