Re: Symptoms all coming back - with a vengeance!From: Alina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 19 Jul 2000 09:57:06 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Sonnett -- so sorry to hear about hwat you've been through. This sounds simplistic, but the first thing that comes to mind for me is that you may have gone too low-carb and done something to the way you're metabolizing insulin and hormones. Could you try to figure out a median point between the amount of carbs you used to consume and whatever you consumed on the low-carb diet, and try that. On the other hand, I suppose it is possible that the symptom increases occurred coincidentally with the dietary changes. They may not be related at all in any causal way. If you have a good doc, or maybe even a dietician who is knowledgeable about PCOS, you could trying getting some input from her. I went to a herbalist at the beginning of the year about all the gut problems I have (which are probably related, at least partially, to adhesions from an ovarian wedge resection 25 years ago). Anyway, she made me fill out a million forms and said I have a problem with blood sugar -- got me to cut out sugar entirely, but continue with other carbs, such as 100% rye bread, brown rice and the like. It was not until I started cruising this site, just recently, that I learned all about the IR-PCOS connection, so the herbalist managed to hit the nail on the head without all the science. Which is a longwinded way of saying: if you can find a good herbalist or naturopath, she or he may be able to help you find the medication-diet balance. Sorry about how long this. You take good care, and if I think of anything else, I'll pass it on -- Alina
