Re: spironolactone-to Kay

My dr put me on 50 mg 2x/day, but if I tolerate that after 1 week, I'm supposed to go up to 100 mg/2x/day. From what I've read here, no one else seems to be on as high a dose. Should I question the dosage? Does everyone on spiro get hot hands? Is that a bad symptom, or just an annoying one?

What I found though is (and I didn't realize this until just the other day) that when I was taking the 100 mg every day it made my hands very hot indeed, but I lost a total of 17 lbs at that dosage.

I started the spiro in Nov of 1996, and went off of it in Sept of 1997 b/c of the hothandedness.

I will still always have the hot handed feeling but if I am able to lose at least 20 or 30 more # then I will be truly grateful. I will ask my dr some time soon why she didn't put me on the 100 mg. What I do know is that she said that 100 mg of the spiro was a lot for me at the time. I will be interested to see how much longer this 50 mg will work for me.
