Hi, I'm the one who told vena about the tagamet. First are you sure you have the right name of the drug your doc prescribed, because tagamet is an acid reducer for your stomach, I don't believe it is an anti-androgen. If you do a search on the name or go to a web site like drkoop.com, they have a drug checker there. It tells you all about the drug you are requesting info on. Tagamet is the brand name, the generic name is cimetadine (think that spellings right). I don't remember exactly what the site said, but I think it was that tagamet increases the effects of the glucophage. So that would effect your dosing, which isn't a good thing. So I would double check things first before you start taking it. If you need an antacid, there are other ones available. If you need an anti-androgen I don't think tagamet will work for that. I think the ladies here who need an antiandrogen are on drugs called spirolactine or aldactone (spelling might not be right). Isn't that right ladies?
