Re: I am still confused-what should I eat?!From: Herring (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 13 Jul 2000 10:30:11 -0500
Just wanted to add something to this. Many people don't know this, but if you lose large amounts of weight, your changes of getting gall stones is very great. My sister lost 50 pounds and had to have her gall bladder removed, she did not low carb, she did low fat. This is something that is quite normal when you lose weight, no matter how you lose it. My GI dr, my diabetic dr, my RE, and my diatician have all told me this. Actually they all said that more then likely when I lose weight I will develop gall stones and probably have to have my gall bladder removed. I know a lot of people personally [friends and family] who have been on it and they got extremely ill. One person was nearly hospitalized for failing kidneys and other problems. After initial BIG TIME weight loss, they grew weak, pale, and were tired all the time. And they felt sick. One man had to have his gall bladder removed as a result. I have not known a *single* person who has done Atkins who has not gotten terribly ill. Honestly. I personally think Sugarbusters is the best, after reading all of the others. But I don't really follow any "diet"...I hate to diet. I just eat healthy protein, lots of veggies, moderate fruits, WHOLE grains...and I completely abstain from refined sugars, white flours, rices, pasta [except whole grain], potatoes, corn, [potatoes and corn and carrots turn almost instantly to sugar once ingested, and they spike the insulin levels a lot]. I feel like a new woman....I really do. Love, Kristy B. Get Yahoo! Mail - Free email you can access from anywhere!
