Re: Pcos&hair loss.From: Alina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 13 Jul 2000 08:40:01 -0500 (CDT)
I once checked out the integration wig thing too, Kristy, and was depressed for days after seeing how much better I looked (and felt) with all the hair I've lost replaced. But it was so expensive and the maintenance would keep the price up forever. I've been on cyproterone acetate and using minoxidil and, though I wouldn't say anything new has grown in, I do believe (as does my dermatologist) that it has prevented further loss. I know this aspect of PCOS is so hard on our self-esteem, isn't it, as though we didn't have enough to deal with. I obsess with looking at other people's hair when I'm out and wondering why they, especially the ones with lots of it, got the hair I was supposed to have. Anyway, on a lighter note, there was a column years ago in one of the newspapers up here, written by a man losing his hair, saying that he was fluffing his up with an egg beater, and combing it lower and lower on teh side until, soon, he expected he'd be combing it up from the hip. At least us cysters will have something on the hip to comb up! Groan. Take good care -- Alina
