Re: ovuation? spike in temp, or dip?From: Herring (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 13 Jul 2000 08:20:08 -0500
I think in someone whose body is "normal" that works fine and dandy. As for me, mine went up, then down, then up, all throughout the month. And my absolute lowest temp (96.1) would happen at least once a week with no big rise that would last more then a couple days. I may have ovulated during this time, but really I don't think so. I am now on met (I was only on chromium and inositol during that time) but not taking my temp anymore. My RE has told me that if I am not pg by August then she is going to start me on clomid, and determine ovulation with ultrasound. Looks like I need more sick time.... (only have 1.5 hours left after yesterday) going to use vacation now. But it will be worth it WHEN I get pregnant. Once your temperature has been up (about .5 degrees or more) for three days in a row, you've ovulated. In my own case, I have seen a dip in temperature just before the rise. Unfortunately, I've seen many dips, not just that one. One thing that is always consistent for me, though, is that my temperature stays elevated for two weeks, indicating ovulation. It's pretty noticeable - my average temperature before ovulation is about 97.4. The dip is usually around 96.9. After ovulation, it's usually around 98.1 for two weeks. If you keep charting, you might be able to figure out a pattern. I can't say I've figured one out for myself so far, but I sure hope this helps you!
