Re: beating myself up

Hi, I, too, found the Carbo Addicts Book very helpful in explaining WHY we crave the carbos and feel hungry once we've triggered the insulin (which makes you feel even more hungry). If I ate a "normal" breakfast with carbos like careal w/milk or a bagel w/fruit I found I was so hungry for a meal by 10:00 am. As an experiment, I didn't eat ANY carbos until noon (I mostly ate eggs (1 whole and one with just the white), cheese, or a piece of leftover chicken)and found I wasn't as hungry throughout the day. At noon I'd eat salad, protein (more leftovers!), and a whole grain carb. Then snack at 3:00 like fruit or veggies, and dinner was almost the same as lunch. I even had a glass of wine ocassionally and dessert. In four weeks I lost 7 pounds with hardly any sacrifice! I think it was becasue I delayed triggering that insulin in the morning. In that book it also says to be leary of artificial sweetners, if is tastes sweet your body reacts to it like a real sugar thus releasing more insulin. So that diet soda has a boomerang effect. Hope this helps. Monica

It has a quiz in there to see if it applies to you. Good luck to you, let me know if you need any support as I just started the low carb thing today.
