Re: beating myself up

Alina--From my experience with low-carbing, which I can't even say that I'm doing very successfully at this moment, it takes about 4 days (of sheer torture IMO) to overcome the carb cravings like that. I ate alot of diet jello with cool whip the first few days, and always made sure my tummy was at least "full" so that it wasn't actually hunger causing the cravings. I know the nutra-sweet in the jello isn't a good idea either, but it was the only way I got through those first few days. After that, I cut out most of it, except for on occasion. For me it was like I imagine it to be like for a drug addict going cold turkey...very painful! I had a doc tell me the low carbing was bad for me, so now I'm at square 1, totally addicted again and having trouble getting the right mind-set to start over. BTW--I don't believe the doctor that told me that. I also know there are alot of things on the market made with splenda and stevia which aren't supposed to change your blood sugar/insulin levels, but can help with a sweet tooth. That will be my way of attack when I get the courage to try again! The cravings really do get better in 3-4 days if you stick it out!

Blessings.... Kay 1
