Hi Rhonda-
These ladies are more knowledgeable on the *specifics* than I am, but
from what I've read, I tend to agree with Paula's "better to be be safe
than sorry" approach. Ask your doctor!
It's possible to reduce all carbs *for a limited time* to purposely put
yourself into ketosis. Some people swear by this as a method to lose
weight. Even short-term, though, it's taxing to the kidneys--and as
Paula said, outright dangerous long term.
>From what I've read about Metformin, it's an ultimately safe drug--but
you must have good kidney function (it's taxing to kidneys)! The thought
of combining two things which "test" the capability of your kidneys
doesn't sound like a great idea. I'd ask a doctor before toying with
*anything* that even has a chance of compromising kidney function. ;)
