I don't know if you are aware of this but tagamet and glucophage are counter indicated for each other. I was taking it too for IBS and was told to stop. If you look up glucophage on a drug checker site like dr. koop, you will see it listed as something not to take together. Could be why your having a harder time. But, don't take my word for it, do check it out for yourself.
