Jean:

I am with you 100%.. I gained about 70 lbs in a year, went from 120 to 190, just like that... it was petrifying to me, and my family has no comprehension of what I am dealing with.... They think I just need to diet more and exercise more (actually, I could do more there).. My husband, although he is supportive and tries to understand, is also guilty of trying to get me to diet like a fiend (like 700 calorie a day diet)....

I have been on Met since April, and I have been told that for many of us, the change that we are looking for may take up to eight or ten months to manifest itself... So I am just taking it faithfully, trying to watch my carbs, & hoping that it WILL work....

Hang in there, Jean....

(One more thing, it is possible that you will need to increase the dosage significantly... many women with PCOS do not see effects from met unless they are on the maximum dosage...)

Let me/us know how you are doing, and don't give up!

Love,

Clara

I am on my second refill of glucophage and haven't begun to see the dramatic wieght loss that I keep hearing about. it has been about 40 days. I am currently on 500mg and am moving up to 850 tommorrow after my last few doses are finished. I saw my Dr.(He's awesome for a little country Doc) on Thursday and he recommended that I start the high protein and very low arb diets that are out, I hear that these too also take a while to "kick in". I guess what I am asking is for alittle hope. I am so discouraged. I am currently 5'2" and weigh 192!!!! I have never weighed this much and genetically it is very abnormal for my family to be heavy. I also had the misfortune to marry into a family of extremely thin and beauty concious people and I think they think I am lying when I tell them that the weight gain (62lbs in a year) is because of PCOS. I've had folks say that I should try to educate them but, (lets be real here)is that really my responsibility? I don't question people when they tell me thy have cancer, or high blood pressure etc. Sory so long, I needed to vent, please, someone tell me that my insulin will even out and I will be able to get into my clothes again!!!!!! Thanks
