OT: Clara, Ginger - abuseFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netFri, 30 Jun 2000 11:17:52 -0400
Clara, Ginger, et al. I have to share a story. My mom speaks fluent Polish. But she married a fellow (my dad) from New England and has a very English (see my sig) last name. She was the VP of mortgage collections at a large bank in Central NY and their worst payer was a Polish man. She finally had to ask him to come in and he did, with his son. They were all very polite and the man turned to speak to his son....in Polish. My mom sat there and smiled and said nothing tho she understood EVERY SINGLE WORD. These 2 morons had no clue. They called her a number of foul, deragatory names, they weren't paying, etc etc etc. Of course, my mom's dad was very abusive to women and this just set her off more. When they finished she politely said "excuse me" and got up like she was going to out. Only she closed the door and proceeded to provide these guys with a new orifice in their native language. My mom said the older man kind of wet his pant and broke out in a cold sweat. My mother said she would report them to the authorities for the way they had treated her as well. She then proceeded to go back to her desk to the phone. The men got up and dashed from her office. The next day a huge cashier's check was messengered to her office. All their bad mortgage debts paid in full. This is a true story - despite the fact I don't get along with my mom it taught me one thing. Don't let people get away with treating you badly. Teenagers or elderly or your own family. I have my PCOS story at http://www.SoulCysters.com on 12 Jun 2000 under FREAK OF THE WEEK. It contains a story of abuse due to PCOS. I will NEVER let someone treat me like that that I don't know. I don't care if they don't like me afterward. Abuse is wrong PERIOD. Stick up for yourself and Ginger - you go back there, talk to that manager and keep going up the line until you get an apology and those kids are fired or stopped from hurting some other poor Cyster. Big hugs. BTW Ginger, my nephew is Mexican and heavy and people always say, "is he yours?" (He's adopted). I say, "Yes he sure is." He is a wonderful person and I am proud to have him in my family.
