Re: PCOS & MiscarriageFrom: Herring (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Jun 2000 08:15:44 -0500
Studies have shown that women with PCOS have a high miscarriage rate, around 40%. My RE told me that they are going to monitor me from the very beginning so they should know when I am only about a week late, then they are going to put me on progesterone (vaginal) until I am 12 weeks. It seems that after the first trimester the miscarriage rate goes down to normal, around 10%. Quite honestly I think any PCOS is severe, my 2 miscarriages I had were when I had NO symptoms other then my period being so abnormal. I was put on Clomid and the first cycle discovered I was pregnant. Unfortunately, a blood test today revealed my HcG levels have gone way down and I'm miscarrying. I'm wondering if anyone knows if PCOS can increase the causes of miscarriage, or if Clomid can? I realize miscarriage happens a lot, I'm just trying to find some explanations and help. I don't think my PCOS is severe at this point--excessive hair and very irregular periods being the main symptoms.
