Glucophage questionFrom: Heather (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 28 Jun 2000 15:29:23 -0500 (CDT)
I was recently diagnosed with PCOS (about 3 weeks ago) and my doctor put me on Glucophage. I started out with 500mg/day and after 1 week went to 1000mg/day. Now after 2 weeks, he has me on 2000mg/day. I was wondering how long the side effects, mainly nausea and diarrhea, last. After 2 1/2 weeks, I figured my body would be adjusted to the medication. I have pretty much curbed the diarrhea with amodium ad but the nausea remains. It is especially bad in the mornings after I first wake up and I usually need to eat something almost immediately. Can anyone tell me if this is normal and about how long it takes for my body to completely adjust to the glucophage. I was in my doctor's office yesterday to get something for my allergies and only his nurse practitioner was there. She told me that the symptoms should go away shortly but in the meantime, I feel quite miserable and am already tired of these pills. I was also wondering how long after you start taking glucophage can you expect to start your period? I haven't had one since Feb. so I want to be prepared. Thanks so much.
