Hi Abby! I am 17 and have noticed that I have quite a few of the syptoms of PCOS...the most dominate being irregular periods. I have had my period for about 4-5 years and everyone (including my doctors) always told me that the irregularity was normal. I read an article, though, saying that girls with irregular periods between the ages of 14-16 are not experiencing a normality, but indeed early signs of PCOS. I also read that 80% of women with irregular periods suffer from PCOS. This doesn't mean that you for sure have it, but if I were you I would go to your mom's gyn., which is what I'm doing on the 30th of this month. I'm not too excited about the appt., but I'd much rather know and figure out what has been causing these abnormalities in my body:) Hope this helps! Take care...
