Re: hot flashes?

Just wanted to respond about the hot flashes. I have had them for 21 years now. They started about a year after the birth of my only child. My flashes cycle about every 20-30 minutes and I feel as if I am being roasted alive. I can even steam up my eyeglasses completely. I don't think they are caused from just being overweight. When mine started I weighed only 130 lbs. But I have had PCOS symptoms ever since I was 8 years old. The flashes are unbearable, and I usually turn a bright red in the face. People are always asking me if I am okay!! BCP's don't help, higher doses of estrogen don't help, and my total hyster didn't help. I hate to think I will suffer from this symptom of PCOS the rest of my life, but it looks that way. Anyone out there have any coping methods to ease the flashes? I know our pituitary gland controls our body temp, and hormone levels affect our pituitary, and PCOS upsets our endo organs/hormonal system, but think I really could apply to be a super hero and call myself "The Flame". My first assignment could be to fly to the Jovian moon of Europa and melt the surface ice sheet!!! Keep the faith, Adipose

Yes, Gail, I can relate to what you said since I have experienced the same things. I know the percentage of ladies on this board are concerned with fertility questions, but we ladies that are post-menopausal and still suffer from PCOS are important too. Hang in there, you are not alone!!! Maybe in the near future, we can all work together to find answers and spread the word to our daughters and grandaughters. Keep looking for the light.
