Re: ??????????WINK againFrom: Belle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 7 Jun 2000 22:06:42 -0500 (CDT)
A low carb diet may lower the insulin requirements that you body has and therefore lower the amount of insulin that is released into your bloodstream. A lower carb diet does not help your cells accept the insulin any better, however, with the lower levels of insulin in your body, you may have a relief of some of the symptoms of PCOS. Something you might want to think about: you cannot test your insulin at home or even with a simple blood test at the drs office. You really have to have a glucose tolerance test with insulin levels (IGTT) to determine how your body is metabolizing your glucose. Again, with PCOS, there are no yes or no answers! :-)
