Re: Questions????From: Jessica (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 6 Jun 2000 22:34:54 -0500 (CDT)
Dear Heather, I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18 years old (5 years ago). I have asked my obgyn about Provera or another alternative to BC pills. She said that nothing else seems to have the same effects as the BC pills. I went through a time where I missed my period for a long while. My obgyn put me on a new pill and I'm back to "normal." She said that sometimes a woman's body adapts to the pill, so a change is needed to get things back on track. In regards to your question about changing your obgyn, I have found that having a female doctor for this matter really helps. She is much more willing to listen and suggest new ideas for weight loss and other issues associated with PCOS. If you are not comfortable with your obgyn, I would suggest a change.
