Alexis:

I have taken phentermine twice in the past (it is the phen part of the old fen-phen diet wonder drug, and it is the part that was not taken off the market).

I don't recommend it to anyone. It is addictive and it is also counterproductive, I think. It is basically speed. Makes you incredibly thirsty, takes away all hunger, gives you oodles and oodles of energy, and you build up a tolerance to it fairly quickly so, if you have a lot of weight to lose, it can get dangerous, because high dosages pose a risk to your heart. Also, it promotes very rapid weight loss, and once most people stop taking it, they gain the weight back almost as quickly as they lost it, and this is bad for your body, period....

Be careful with that drug. There are doctors out there who exploit overweight people and who charge anywhere from $80 to $250 per month for these special "weight-loss" programs.. and all they are really doing is prescribing phentermine.

Rather than go to a weight loss "specialist" for this, I would first ask my family doctor/GP/PCP about it and get a sincere opinion. I learned about its negative effects the hard way, and in retrospect, I can see that I wasted a lot of money and did more harm than good to myself.

Anyway..... I am not condemning folks who use it. I can understand why people go to doctors who prescribe it, and I know well how they feel and what they are trying to achieve....Been there, done that... I'm still there sometimes, but won't go back & do it again....

I just wanted to share my thoughts and opinions about this with you and anyone else who has not tried it and is considering trying it.

Take care,

Clara

ok...help me out...is phentermine part of what "phen-phen" (weight loss drug) was? What exactly does it do? Is it just an appetite suppressant? How does it work? How much weight can you lose by taking it, how fast does the weight come off & is it safe? Sorry for all the ?'s Thanks :-) Alexis
