test results back - had a long call with my dr.

Thank you to those of you who responded to my post about not having any cysts. I try to convince myself that it's *not* my fault, but it's nice to hear that from someone else once in awhile :)

I got a phone call today from my physician who had my blood tests results. He said I have slightly elevated testosterone levels and DHEA. (11.8 and 7.4, respectively I think). My colesterol was good and my fasting blood sugar was normal. He said testosterone and dhea weren't terribly elevated, but he said that he is going to get me an appointment with a good endocrinologist so that we can investigate this further. !!! yay!!

He did not give me a diagnosis of PCOS, but he did mention it. He didn't know the results of the ultrasound yet--I told him that I had no cysts, but he didn't change his mind about the endocrinologist--he seemed to think there was an imbalanace of some sort that should be investigated and didn't necessarily stem from my ovaries.

He said that a normal fasting blood sugar meant i did not have diabetes (thank god--iwas so worried). He didn't seem to think an IGTT was necessary. He didn't quite get the link between IR and PCOS. If a normal fasting blood sugar level is ok, should I still be worried about IR? I am going to bring it up with the endocrinologist. Is the test a must in all cases?

But what a relief to get one step further!
